Jillian Harvey and Lucas Goodman (Astro Raw) have taken the music world by storm. Founded in New York, the neo soul duo goes by the name Lion Babe. In an interview Harvey has said that, “We wanted there to be a certain duality, like there is with Blondie, with me as the frontwoman, you might think I’m Lion Babe, but it’s like, no, we’re Lion Babe. We liked that. It’s about embracing your uniqueness and rocking it.”
Lion Babe released their first track titled “Treat me Like Fire” in 2012 which gave the band some recognition. Two years later, the band signed with Interscope records and soon after they released an EP titled “Lion Babe” which featured rapper Childish Gambino and received high praise by many music critics for its electro-soul sound. Band member Jillian Harvey was compared to the likes of Erykah Badu, who she has referenced along with Chaka Khan and The Beatles as some of the bands inspiration. Band member and producer Lucas Goodman has also cited Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix as some of his own personal inspirations.
More recently the artistic duo released the track “Wonder Woman” (produced by Pharrell Williams). The funky track reached number one on the Billboard charts. Lion Babe’s highly anticipated debut album has no title or release date yet, but you can check out some of their tracks below!
